Job vacancies posted online by Gulf
countries are attracting jobseekers. Online job postings are the new preferred
way of finding jobs. One of the well-known recruitment companies conducted a
study and found out that 90% of jobseekers are preferring finding new
employment opportunities through online advertisements. The study was conducted
on major companies of the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC). These companies hire
from Southeast Asia and Middle East. According to these companies, most of
responses received are online.
Hiring Solutions Company conducted this
study. The period of study was from July to December 2011. In this study, about
1.1 million applications was reviewed out of which 6,193 applications were
focused. The reviewers then asked the jobseekers through which channels they
applied for the job vacancies.
About 45% of applicants said that they
applied for jobs through employers’ website. This study particularly noted that
most the employers have not advertised online for vacant openings in their
companies. After the outcome, this study also predicted that more employers
would use the online medium to advertise their job openings. The important
reason being jobseekers are now relying heavily on the social media and
employment websites to search for jobs.
Jobseekers can apply for vacant positions
through various channels. Online sites, job and career fairs and also through
employment agencies- these are some ways thorough which they can find jobs in
UAE. Many well-known companies of UAE are located in Dubai. Thousands of jobs in Dubai are posted online. According to this study, career fairs and newspaper
job classifieds had poor responses.
In another surprising outcome, 23% of
applicants hired are from employer talent pools. the overall result of this
study is that as more companies are becoming web-savvy, the role of recruitment
agencies are diminishing. Only 6% of candidates hired came from recruitment
agencies.
