Tourism authority has forecasted that UAE will lead the world in creating tourism economy employment. As predicted by World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), it is expected to generate 5.7% annual growth in travel and tourism related employment between 2010 and 2020 which is the fastest in the world.
The contribution of travel and tourism to UAE's GDP is expected to grow from 16.6% in 2010 to 21.7% by 2020 according to WTTC. It will clock an annual rate of around 8% to grow its travel and tourism economy GDP the fastest in next 10 years. According to WTTC data, the contribution of the T&T economy to employment will surge from around 14% of total employment in 2010 to 18% by 2020. With a 4.7% growth rate during the same period, GCC peer Qatar is ranked ninth on the list.
