Agencies Promising Jobs in Middle East? Beware!!

Middle East is a dream place for millions. Hundred thousands migrate to the region with big dream in their eyes of earning enormous salaries and living life king size. But, sometimes these dreams are shattered as soon as they move to the new city and realize that they have been bluffed.

With the increasing preference for jobs in Middle East, a number of agencies have opened up promising to fetch jobs for the aspirants. A few cases have been reported by expats claiming that they have been fooled all the while by the fraudulent job agencies that lured them with plush jobs. Such recruitment firms are operating freely around the country and duping more and more young men everyday. Many big dreams are devastated when the realization of being taken for a cruel ride is dawned on the starry eyed. What is told about the place and the job prior to leaving the native country is entirely different from the real encounter.

The working conditions are slave like inducing nightmarish experiences in an alien land. This is especially true for unskilled and sometimes the semi-skilled workers who move out of their homelands in the hope of making mega bucks but are trapped and left cheated. They are lured into well paying jobs in Middle East where they are then made to slog for hours. These fraud agencies charge huge sums of money as high as 2 lakhs from the already poverty stricken people in grave need for jobs. The excuse of procuring passport and visa works fine with them, making it easier to convince almost anybody to empty their pockets.

It is extremely significant to be alert at all times and to not get swayed with attractive offers. Always check the authenticity of the recruitment agency and the employer before making the final move.

Chocolate Tasting : An Emerging Career in Abu Dhabi

The emirate jobs of Abu Dhabi is the hub of creative professions like writing, photography, painting, designing, mystery shopping and now chocolate tasting. Yes, that’s right-chocolate tasting is beginning to gain importance in the Emirati markets.

The concept of chocolates is newer for Emiratis as entered the region only in 1970s and people are still learning the difference between regular and fine chocolates. Some of the brands launched across Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman in last 15 years are Choco Art, Pistache and Fuala. To cater to the tastes of the people, it is very important to know about their preferences to decide the right fat content, sweetness, cocoa taste and milk quantity. When one can strike the right balance between these ingredients to lure Emiratis to chocolates, then the job is done. The cracking, melting, mixing, tempering and filling and emptying chocolate molds is what it takes to make chocolates.

The chocolate tasting job is surely a tempting one and among the best as one gets paid for what one loves eating the most. But, it is fattening too thus necessitating the habit of exercising to avoid putting on weight. One gets to sniff, sip and lets the chocolate melt in the mouth before making the judgment on what more should be added. The use of meswak stick, a tree branch traditionally functioned as a tooth brush, before trying the next sample of chocolate cleans teeth and refreshes mouth for the new taste. This way the taste of next sample does not get mixed with the previous one.

The major season of chocolates is at the end of Ramjan and Eid as the entire Muslim community craves for something sweet and rich after days of fasting. Generally, they prefer light filling and not too sweet, milk chocolates over heavy, dark ones.

Dubai’s cultural beauty and warm nature attracting job seekers

One thing, which is on the mind of every person, coming back from Dubai, is the admiration about the culture and beauty of Dubai. The work culture, the environment, people and everything about Dubai is fantastic, are the words, I have heard, from people sharing experiences about their trip to Dubai. People who work in Dubai, are highly satisfied with the work environment at their offices and much impressed by the hospitality shown by the people of Dubai. The craze of jobs in Dubai is increasing day by day, with the rising popularity of the country. The lifestyle and the standards of the people are also very striking and people across the globe dream of working in Dubai.

It has actually become a dream for job seekers to get career in Dubai and enjoy the lavishing lifestyle of the country. In fact, one of my friends, who recently went to Dubai, for a project, is so much excited to go back again, that he has started searching a job in Dubai for himself. I am not at all exaggerating, people who have been to Dubai, can any time become the credentials for my statement. The countries in Gulf are developed with great architecture, with the use of hi-technologies, to cater the needs of the common man. The residents of Dubai are facilitated with all the latest developments and they have the best developments around the city. The city is known for its real estate and hospitality sector, which provides great opportunity to its people for practising a high standard of living and even has a number of job opportunities in the respective areas.

Therefore, those who want to have a lavishing lifestyle and a prosperous job environment, in their future, can surely search for jobs in Dubai, and proceed towards a life full of excitement and success.

Beware of fake job agents

Jobs in foreign land is the most lucrative job option, that any one like you or me, would surely get tempted for. It’s a human tendency that we get lured by a job opportunity, which promises a high salary and jobs in foreign land is surely a cherry added to it, for the Indians. There are many sources, which help us in finding the right job, such as online job portals, job agents, recruitment agencies, etc. All these have opportunities for working in India as well as jobs in gulf, and in other foreign lands. Some of the recruitment companies or agents require you to submit the money or fees for helping you find a prosperous job opening. In case of the foreign jobs, the money involved is huge, so a proper research should be done, before submitting money for jobs in gulf or other countries.

There have been many fake cases related to this, but still we don’t seem to be learning a lesson out of it. Just hearing the name of the country and the salary, we get attracted towards the job and do not mind in shedding thousands or even lacs of rupees. But mind it, that today more than the real and the credible companies, there are fraud agents existing in the job market. So, you need to be really careful, before actually investing your money for a job in foreign land. The identity, credibility, contract papers, all should be checked, before making any agreement with a job agent or a job agency. Countries like gulf or other foreign destinations are very particular and strict about their working rules. So people with incomplete legal documents can face harsh treatment in these countries.

Therefore, it is very important for you to be very sure of the credibility and loyalty of your job agent and that he lands you to a right job in the right country.

Manufacturing Sector in Sharjah Surging Up

The economy of UAE relies heavily on manufacturing sector probably just next to oil and gas jobs  industries. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are already the most preferred career destinations among expatriates and Sharjah is catching up soon. It is focusing on strengthening its foundations and infrastructure needed both for industrial expansion and for attracting further investments.

Sharjah contributes nearly 50% of UAE’s industrial GDP with over 1600 industrial enterprises and 75,000 professionals employed in the sector. Manufacturing industry has been witnessing a steady growth from nearly a decade now and holds vast potential for more. The government is making serious efforts to boost it furthermore at a swift pace in line with its objective of diversifying the economy. It is working towards this mission with a different approach so as to achieve an overall development. That is, instead of investing on heavy industries dependent on oil or gas, it is targeting light and medium-scale industries as it will enable infrastructural and property growth in the emirate. Also, this will create plenty of jobs in Sharjah chiefly in manufacturing, trading, logistics, construction and others related sectors.

In order to flourish manufacturing sector, improvement in infrastructure-electricity supply, transport, etc. and creation of business friendly environment is very important. Sharjah is an existing industrial hub of UAE but the scope for improvements is still there. Along with development in manufacturing segment, the supporting sectors will also thrive in the city thereby creating employment opportunities. This will lead to availing expert services of foreign professionals, well trained in the required skills. The demand for highly qualified and experienced expats in sectors related to manufacturing and real estate is bound to grow manifold. All such developments will foster positioning of Sharjah as an industrial center of the entire country of UAE.

Innovation to Create Jobs in Middle East

The introduction of innovation in business activities can lead to generation of large number of jobs in countries of the Middle East. As firmly believed by promoters of Quality Hypermarket, experimentation in business is sure create numerous job opportunities across the retail industry. Undertaking novel business practices would help boost the employment market in Middle East ultimately improving customer satisfaction by providing round-the-clock services.

Effective utilization of human resources is vital to augment productivity and achieve targets. With retailers inclined on offering on being open 24 hours for customers, retail jobs in Qatar are all set to grow. The reason for such a move is the belief of retailers that allowing buyers to shop anytime of the day (or night) will flourish convenience for the customers. Since, traffic woes and hectic work schedules discourage people from going out during the day, they will welcome the idea of shopping at night. The staffers are anyway on duty at night to carry out tasks related to loading, maintaining and arranging the stores; then why not make it accessible for customers too!

This innovation is set to create need for more manpower, well trained in retail management. If this works well, more and more stores will adopt the practice resulting in further creation of retail jobs in Qatar. Once it becomes a trend, other places like Doha, UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc. can also settle for the same bringing delight to customers, retailers and professionals, all at once. Not only will the career opportunities increase, the retail industry is also expected to witness tremendous expansion and unprecedented growth.

On looking beyond the business outlook, the lifestyle followed in the region will certainly change. Middle East will then have an active nightlife opening up more options for people to relax and enjoy themselves.

Seminar organised for women job aspirants in gulf

Jobs in foreign countries have always been a factor of fascination for Indians. The foreign currency and the lifestyle in countries across the world, has always motivated the citizens of India, to look for jobs abroad. The countries, which tops as the destination for the job search in India, are USA, UK, Gulf countries, etc. Out of all these Gulf countries forms the region, which mostly attracts the southern part of India. People living in states like Kerela, are believed to be covering the major percentage of Indians, looking jobs in gulf. Not only men, but a considerable amount of women population, can also be seen applying for jobs in the gulf countries. Therefore to make these women aware of the cultures and work practices followed in the gulf countries, a seminar was organised by the Kerala Women's Commission and Norka-Roots.

It was a full day seminar and came out to be a very motivational and affective session. It focused on the steps and the areas, which women should ensure before applying for a job in gulf regions. It is actually very important for the applicants to be aware of the job culture and the daily practises followed in the gulf countries. Such seminars are imperative for the job aspirants, because they emphasise on the factors, which a person should verify, before actually going to a far away place for job. It is especially very important for women, to check and recheck the information and the details of the organisation in which they are going to work abroad. Slide in Dubai Unemployment Rate

According to labor data released by Dubai Statistics Centre, joblessness in Dubai has declined by almost 20 percent. It stood at barely one percent in 2009 which means more than 11,000 professionals were unemployed out of an active population of nearly 1.6 million.

The data showed that population of unemployed expatriates was just a little less than the double of that of Emirate natives. To be precise, 7,200 expatriates and 4,000 natives were left without jobs last year in 2009 mainly due to termination of their services by the employers. The reason for higher unemployment rate among expatriates could be the higher job occupancy rate of foreign professionals in Dubai as compared to natives. It has been repeatedly highlighted that population of expats in some parts of Dubai outnumbers that of locals.

Another fact that came to light by the medium of this report is that more women were jobless than men. It is interesting to note that men in the local and women in foreign communities mostly lost jobs in Emirate. Those with higher qualification suffered the brunt of recession much more than semi-skilled or unskilled workers. It is also said that most of the people spent around 2 to 3 months looking for new jobs in Dubai. Also, majority of the laid off people were single and not married or without family.

Dubai has a unique labor structure which is why these figures are not very insightful though they definitely help in analyzing the improvement in employment situation. Even though it can not be said with certainty that Dubai economy can reach pre-crisis level by this year’s end, 2011 is expected to be a much better year. Jobs in Dubai are back, if not with a big bang, then definitely with a soft thunder.

Difference in Working Ways of Expats and Nationals in Bahrain

The expatriate working population is considered to be the backbone of various economies in the Middle East. There is a huge paucity of expertise and experience in the natives of these countries while foreign workforce specializes in it. This is why expat professionals are welcomed with open arms across the entire Middle Eastern region. But apart from this, it is also believed that expatriates work harder than the nationals and the chief reason attributed for the same is that they have the liberty to be much more sociable than the former.

There is a difference in the attitudes of expat and national workers in Bahrain though it does not imply that Bahrainis are underperformers and foreigners hardworking. Let’s take a quick look at their way of working:

-Bahrainis are usually ambitious and envision their careers to grow in line with the rapid development of their nation. They rely mainly on their being nationals to attain growth and not experience or diligence and this advantage is taken over by expatriates.

-Since natives have friends and relatives in their country, they get the liberty to socialize more than the migrants. On the other hand, foreign personnel spend lesser time on recreation and much more on work commitments.

-Manual labor is undertaken mostly by expats as natives of Bahrain shy away from such work. Though it is true that everyone wishes to hold the top most position, it is not practical. Like a department in the company needs both managers and executives, an organization requires a CEO as well as a security guard, a country too demands people to serve positions from that of an ambassador to a municipality worker at the same time. Expats need to participate in carrying out menial tasks too!
If all jobs are considered respectable, Bahrain can develop much faster than now!

GCC Promises Rapid Economic Growth

The primary growth driver for the economies of GCC countries is diversification and oil reserves. The swiftly growing trade and investment links of Gulf countries with other economies indicate positive sentiments in the market. The continued corporate expansion and economic liberalization of these countries- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Republic of Yemen- are instrumental in their fast paced growth.

As per estimates, GCC economies are expected to grow by more than 3% this year and will cross 4% next year. It has been able to emerge from the global economic meltdown quite well in contrast to the Western economies. The lives of Gulf countries rest with fluctuation in oil prices as it can bring both the boost and the setback to their economies. But diversification has helped corporate sector in developing steadfastly ultimately fostering consumer wealth. Huge untapped opportunities await exploration in the Gulf region so as to stimulate creation of jobs, products and expertise.

The investors have started eyeing Gulf markets again reinforcing the resilience of its economy. The investment market is at its best across various segments and promises great returns in future. It is believed that over a million jobs are to be generated in every Gulf country by the year end across different industries. The private sectors are to be benefited hugely when development comes in full swing in the coming times.

Even as all Gulf countries are open to outsiders both in business and service areas as well as government and private sectors, Saudi Arabia seems to differ. It is a comparatively closed economy that aims at developing skills, education and capital of its natives. It would then involve them in its economic development while it diversifies and increase the opportunities.

Double Gain for Expatriates in Middle East

Middle East has always had a surreal identity that separates it from rest of the world. Thousands dream of working in this unexplored region as it offers copious amounts of money and a luxurious lifestyle. And with international companies recruiting from Middle East, expatriates have another opportune door open for them.

The desire to grab a job in Middle East is chiefly inspired from the whopping salaries paid there. Good money guarantees good lifestyle though one needs to follow the conservative ethics of the Arabic society. Moreover, with world’s best talent now found in Middle East, companies from countries like China and South Korea are now looking for manpower in places like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others.

Construction jobs in Middle East are the most popular owing to the rapid progress made in its realty sector. The huge developments led to recruitment of industry’s best talents to the region but the global economic meltdown changed many things. Professionals from Gulf and UAE are now preferred by employers in Hong Kong and Macau owing to the dearth in suitable manpower there. Since expatriates are willing to move on either due to economic uncertainties or completion of contract, the booming economies of Asia are taking advantage.

Therefore, those working in Middle East have a new door open to them which helps them move ahead after their work gets over. Expatriates now know ‘what and where next’ with plenty of job opportunities awaiting them outside the land of mysteries. Steady Growth in Gulf Jobs Foreseen

The ‘Gulf Businesses Confidence Index’ by HSBC hit a two year high reinforcing the optimistic sentiment of the Gulf job market. This index is a kind of barometer that looks at the ‘moods’ of the industry leaders and other parameters like budgets, predictions of revenue, achieving targets and maintenance of profits. Its figures have reached the highest this week after the world economies caught the fiscal flu 2 years back.

The confidence in markets has been growing every quarter ever since it slid towards the end of the year2008. Even though the boom period of a few years ago will take time to make a comeback, the economy is definitely recovering. The figures present the positive outlook for Middle Eastern economy with around 45% respondents envisioning increased turnover, 40% predicting higher profits and nearly 35% eyeing at increasing investments. The numbers of jobs in Middle East regions have also been growing across all industries, professions and levels.

As expected, Saudi Arabia emerged as the most confident market with a 97 index while UAE on the other hand was the least confident with an index of 78.4. But, UAE succeeded to achieve one of the highest quarterly rises especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Amongst the Gulf states, Bahrain has been showing the highest quarterly rise. This index has helped substantiate the talks of steady and sustainable growth in Gulf job market and overall economy.

Almost all the cities and states in Middle East have been performing way better than they were a year ago. This realistic optimism is to continue as proved by various surveys and reports that are being continuously conducted and carried out from the last two quarters i.e. from January to June 2010. The economy of Middle East has recovered bringing smiles on the faces of expatriates, companies and governments.

Job Changing in UAE Becomes Easier

Millions dream to work abroad and earn mega bucks but jobs in Middle East are generally contractual or for short period. So, once your work tenure gets over, you have to leave the city and take the family back unless you find a new job there. And even if you are able to grab a good deal, you need to cancel visas of the family members under the previous employers’ sponsorship. But no longer!

Expatriates working in UAE can now escape the troubles involved post completion of the employment contract. They are no longer required to cancel visas of their family members as they can now deposit a bank guarantee of 5,000 dirham or $136 for each of them with the Department of Naturalisation and Residency (NRD). Once you procure new residency permit and visas for yourself and the family, the sponsored ones will be directly transferred to you without any other extra payment.

In such a case where you do not want the cancellation of the visas of your family members, you must apply and inform the NRD beforehand. You are required to attach 5,000 dirhams bank guarantee, the job offer letter from the new employer and the new employment permit issued by the Ministry of Labor to the new sponsor. Such efforts are being made with a view to streamline procedures for expat residents without adding much to their financial burdens.

The NRD Ministry has been presenting new plans everyday to make it easier for expatriates to prolong their stay in UAE with their families. Also, this would help avoid any kind of hassles they may face in sending and then bringing them back after getting a new job. The conditions are being improved everyday encouraging more and more expatriates to join the workforce in UAE.

Hiring Trends in UAE Positive - Survey

The economies of various countries in the world have been bouncing back to normalcy. Many a faces would alight to know that hiring activity in UAE is catching up to meet the manpower deficit apparent in the emirate owing to lay offs last year.

UAE job market is believed to be back on track by industry experts, HR managers, headhunters and recruiters. According to a survey conducted by a networking group and a market research firm together, job market is most bullish for hiring in human resource, finance, sales and marketing sectors. Nearly a 20% increase in recruitments has been observed in UAE as compared to last year. Though salaries have not seen any jump and been the same as 2009 but are expected to increase by the year end.

Expatriates are seen willing to move out of UAE to other parts of the Middle East like Saudi Arabia and Qatar forced by market dynamics. This has intensified the competition in Gulf job market while employers are putting candidates through rigorous selection processes. It is a potential recruitment market as hundreds of foreign professionals show interest in taking up jobs in UAE. They are concerned about their organization, stability and potential relocation within or outside the region.

As popularly known, there is no other better way than networking of increasing your chances of grabbing jobs in Middle East countries. Even in these times of tough competition and stiff screening processes, employers are open to meeting the referred professionals directly. Networking definitely is very important as it opens doors that may not be easily reachable otherwise. The next step is to perform a research on the organization and people interviewing you to get a good picture of what it would be like. The combination is sure to fetch you a well paying job.

UN on the Mission: Improve Working Conditions in Saudi Arabia

UN has undertaken the cause of improving the condition of foreign workforce in Saudi Arabia. The place has been criticized by the human rights organizations for abuse against workers from outside and inequality toward women.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mrs. Navi Pillay said that countries in the Gulf region need to improve the working condition of both foreign workers and rights of women. The current sponsorship system is so rigid that it binds migrants to their employers. This enables the employers to commit abuses against workers while preventing them from changing jobs or leaving the country.

According to the reports, there are around 12 million foreign professionals in Gulf cities. These workers are bound to surrender their travel documents to a guarantor which in effect renders them bonded labor under a system called Kafala. The government had already begun an awareness campaign in 2008 to combat the abuse of domestic workers by their employers.

Similarly, there is an urgent need to remove the discriminatory barriers against women in Gulf regions. The concept of male guardianship continues to hamper women's right to shape their own lives and make their own choices. The male relatives are bestowed with control over women under the system known as Mehrem.

The government activity to safeguard women’s rights has increased in recent years though it is definitely not enough. Women are still facing severe discrimination and are inadequately protected against domestic and other violence. A lot needs to be done on both the fronts (issue of foreign workers and women’s rights) as positive developments for both the issues remain patchy and uneven.

The culture and traditions need to give some space to individuals to fulfill their big dreams of working overseas and earning good money.

Strong Recovery Expected in Middle East

The oil dependent economies of the Middle East have improved with the resumption of capital inflows and rising crude oil prices. According to International Monetary Fund (IMF), growth is gaining momentum in the region due to resurgence in domestic consumption but is still clouded by stress in banking systems.

Till now, only estimations were made about the recovery of the sulking economy and the job market of the Middle East. But now reports in Regional Economic Outlook (REO) by IMF have shown that the oil exporting economies have emerged from the crisis to a great extent. As the oil prices plummeted in 2008, the oil GDP contracted by 4.7% and is forecasted to restore by 4.3% by the year end.

There is no doubt about the fact that jobs in Gulf cities are back with a bang. Employers are ready to pay much more than ever to get hold of the talented and skilled professionals for their companies. As the economies of Middle East recover and show resilience, non-oil sectors also show good growth. With considerable fuelling up of economic activities in the area, the aim of diversification of Arabic government is being constantly achieved with new vigor everyday.

The emerging markets like that of Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordon, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Tunisia, etc. are seen recovering from the slowdown. With investment and bank credit beginning to pick up, growth in these areas also seem to catch up. Since the current development rate is not enough, the main challenge for these emerging markets involves improving competitiveness to raise the pace of progress and generate much-needed employment.

Apparently, the already upward swinging market will spiral up further as a result of huge stimulus offered by the government and foreign investors. Middle East, thus, gets to keep the crown of one of the most preferred career destinations in the world.

New Laws to Protect Indian Expatriates

New measures are being taken to provide security to Indian expats employed in Gulf regions. Indian government has proposed to set up an emigration authority to oversee matters related to the movement of workers. It will then be compulsory for professionals moving outside the country to register themselves with this new authority. It is among the important moves by the government of India that aims at overseeing and assisting citizens leaving the country for work.

As part of government initiatives, creation of ‘migration attractiveness index’ for countries in the GCC and elsewhere is also being planned. This migration attractiveness index would guide migrant workers select the best destination by rating countries mainly in Gulf and Malaysia on a scale of 0 to 3 that would be updated biennially. As understood, countries scoring 3 would be the most attractive and those rated 0, the least. As per the sample index created by a consultancy firm for the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, UAE ranked highest- 2.2 out of 3, ahead of other Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia with 1.97.

The index is an attempt to identify the countries that migrant workers may or may not like to migrate to, by making a comparison based on a set of vocational, social, economic, professional and political factors. It will also guide them on the politico-legal framework and the socio-cultural environment of the countries. Economic factors include cost of living in the host country, savings and remittance potential, real economic growth rate, per capita income, income disparity, remittance costs and exchange rates, economic stability, etc.

It is believed that the proposed legislation will have a positive impact on UAE companies recruiting Indian workers. Moreover, it seems to be a commendable move on government’s part as workers will now have a clearer picture of what and what not to expect from the jobs overseas.

Job Growth Accelerating in Gulf and UAE

Gulf has always been a favorite career destination for expatriates from all around the world. Employment opportunities in Gulf and UAE have been bouncing back in full vigor this year. The scars that recession had left by making hundreds of people jobless last year are now being healed by job creation.

Gulf job market has abundance of career opportunities for well trained and highly skilled professionals across various sectors. Those who possess the required skill set, expertise and experience in their respective fields are welcomed with open arms in both Gulf and UAE. According to a survey, more than a quarter of companies in UAE are planning recruitments in the coming months.

Though the job growth will accelerate, experts believe it will reach an exceptional level as in 2007 and 2008. They are predicting normal employment growth i.e. single digit growth even in major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi and UAE. The employment situation before global financial crisis can not be restored in some sectors like real estate, etc. that had suffered due to declining sales, project delays and cancellations that prompted businesses to axe staff.

The nationals in the total workforce are expected to rise from around 8% in 2006 to almost 10% this year. Even the percentage of women in the Emirati workforce is anticipated to rise from 25 in 2006 to 32 in 2011. Employment growth is definitely going to pick though it may or may not match earlier figures of 2007.

A new hope has risen for those who had lost their high paying jobs in last 18 months. They can now look forward to getting new opportunities with better pay scales and lifestyle standards. The cost of living has also reduced as a consequence to recession and so, higher savings can be made.

Minimum salary slab set for the Kuwait private workers

Here comes the good news for the employees planning to go for work in Kuwait. Now, no more small pay packages could be given for your hard work in the Kuwait region of the gulf countries. The social affairs and the labour minister of Kuwait yesterday announced that no employer would be hired on a wage less than 60 Dinars. This has been a great step towards the improvisation of the economic conditions of a large number of people in Kuwait. This decision is the closure of the pending decision which was to be taken after the passing of the new labour laws in December.

As reported by an online news portal on gulf news, the minister said, that the new law will be implemented on all the new government projects, but, does not have any effect on the projects already implemented. The decision is a part of the drive, which the labour minister has started for the reformation of the labour market, to attract more workers towards the private market, by giving more benefits and higher salary packages to the employees in private sector. This is because of the reason, that a larger part of the economy growth is in the hands of the private sector in Kuwait, so to invite more job application for jobs in the private sector of Kuwait, this reformatory measure has been taken.

Also, currently the foreigners are paid very less in the private sector of the Kuwait market, which are mainly people who handle the private job sector of the gulf countries. So to balance the dependency and the participation and interest of the foreigners in the Kuwait jobs, this step seems to be a building stone in changing the mindset of the foreign workers including Indians towards the private jobs opportunities in Kuwait.

Women working in the Middle East

Women surely constitute an important part of the working force all over the country. The involvement of the women in the business and other professional projects is increasing day by day, with the employers becoming aware of the capabilities and the intelligence possessed by the women employees. Earlier also, foreign lands has always encouraged women employments and their association in the main projects of the organisation. They have proved to be a great asset for the most of the brands, all over the world, paving an easy path for the growth and development of their organisation.

Earlier places like Dubai, and other states in the Middle East, were considered backward in terms of women employment. They made their women restricted to the households, defining the handling of house work as their main jobs, but with the women proving their skills all over the world, the countries in the Middle East have also opened their arenas for the women workers. Today, the women in the Middle East countries, like Dubai, Saudi Arabia are proud owners of many renowned companies and agencies. Most of the women workforce in Dubai or other Arab countries can be seen employed in the teaching, advertising, marketing, public relative, creative writing and other service providing sectors of the country.

There are very strict punishments for the people, who try to misbehave or sexually harass the women employees, due to which women are highly safe in the countries and enjoy a very contented lifestyle in the Arab countries. There are women working in Middle East from foreign lands, who are very happy and earning and living the life of their choice, which certainly proves that women in the Arab countries have started enjoying their freedom and rights, which in turn leads to the encouragement of more women applying for jobs in the Middle East countries.

English as the medium of education is implemented all over the world, due to it being the universally accepted language. Students need to be instilled with the basics of the language. UAE - A leader in Tourism Jobs

There is another great news for those looking for jobs overseas as after Lebanon and Gulf, UAE is hiring too. Tourism authority has forecasted that UAE will lead the world in creating tourism economy employment. As predicted by World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), it is expected to generate 5.7% annual growth in travel and tourism related employment between 2010 and 2020 which is the fastest in the world.

The contribution of travel and tourism to UAE's GDP is expected to grow from 16.6% in 2010 to 21.7% by 2020 according to WTTC. It will clock an annual rate of around 8% to grow its travel and tourism economy GDP the fastest in next 10 years. According to WTTC data, the contribution of the T&T economy to employment will surge from around 14% of total employment in 2010 to 18% by 2020. With a 4.7% growth rate during the same period, GCC peer Qatar is ranked ninth on the list.

Travel and tourism is one of the most important sectors across the world and thus, has a huge employer and employee base. 2009 was a bad year for the global travel and tourism sector but even in such a depressed year, it employed over 235 million people across the world which is 8.2% of all employment and generated 9.4% of world GDP. This is enough evidence to be certain of the flourishing job market Middle East and UAE in the coming decade i.e. by 2020.

UAE is bound to be a hit as an employment destination in the coming times. Lakhs of jobs are already being generated in one sector, so one can’t probably think of the total number of jobs available in the country. Expatriates have better scope for jobs in UAE especially in travel and tourism industry.

Upsurge in Gulf Jobs Await Expatriates

Thousands of people dream of working abroad since their childhood. Gulf cities are among the favorite career destinations for many as they promise hefty amounts of money and carefree living. The fall in Gulf economy was miserable as numerous professionals were laid off and sent back home.

I have been keeping a track of the recovery of Gulf economy from more than 2 months. According to my research and news reports that I have also shared on the blog, Gulf job market is all geared up to be back with a bang!

Gulf is beaming happily with the onset of its economic recovery after the slowdown. A flood of jobs in Gulf can be seen apparently as career consultants and job agencies predict and assure vast number of working opportunities in the region. The following facts emphasize and testify the fact that cities of Middle East and Gulf are blooming with abundance of jobs.

-Abu Dhabi is soon to become an industrial hub

The employers in all these regions are not only ready to recruit expatriates but are also willing to pay higher than usual. They are looking for the best of talents and have carried it forward by taking a step ahead i.e. by offering extra remuneration.

The upcoming news of creation of new laws to protect Indian expatriates moving to Middle East world has obviously brought smiles to many faces. The demand for highly skilled and well experienced manpower has been growing in Gulf cities, inviting professionals from around the world. Another news of Gulf being on the brink of another broom is coming in, thus, broadening the smiles.

Yes you read the title right, UAE job market, especially, the Abu Dabi and Saudi Arabia, according to Ravi Pillai, the MD of Nasser S. Al-Hajri Corporation, the UAE job market is withholding ample number of job opportunities for Indians. According to him, billions of dollars are invested in few major projects in the petrochemical industry of UAE, which will result in number of job openings for Indians in the next five years. Due to the knowledge and intelligence, Indians possess, more than 60% percent of the jobs are going to be filled by Indians, as cited by him, in his interview with Economic Times.

And the statement by this gentleman makes sure that job in Saudi Arab, Dubai and other states of UAE is certainly expected to grow and will prove to be a great job landing country for many Indians.

We have always been proud of our skills and the demand of intelligence possessed by Indians all over the world, now the MD of another big group of foreign stating the demand of Indians as their work reinforces the benchmark set- up by the Indians across the globe. Moreover working in UAE is far more lucrative and progressive in terms of career growth due to the career opportunities provided by the gulf countries. So, all the citizens who are fond of jobs in foreign can try and make good use of this opportunity.

Jobs for Finance Professionals in Qatar

The economy of Middle East countries like Qatar is clearly bouncing back with last week reports declaring it a hiring season in Middle Eastern world. In continuation with the reports of companies in Middle East regions open to recruitment, news of large-scale need for finance professionals in Qatar has come up. Qatari companies are on a hunt for manpower in its financial domain leading to opening up of large number of jobs in Qatar.

The number of vacancies in the finance sector of Qatar has increased due to a near end of the downward trend of its economy. According to sources, this has resulted in generating at least 5,200 finance jobs in Qatar, increasing the workforce employed in financial companies of the city. Based on the report by an executive search firm Kinsey Allen International, it has been confirmed that the overall strength of economy and the flooding of foreign investments in Qatar are responsible for creating this wave of finance jobs.

The revenues developed by LNG (liquefied natural gas) projects during recession proved extremely helpful in maintaining and even uplifting the economy of the emirate. Qatar has now become the largest exporter of LNG in the world and is expected to grow productions further. The government of Qatar has been making efforts to reach to the levels of bigger cities like Dubai and Bahrain. This is evident as:

1. Oil and gas revenues have helped in expansion of Qatar’s financial sector as it has been competing with Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.
2. Qatari companies have successfully been able to avoid debts. The government has strongly assisted banks by investing billions of dollars.
3. Kinsey Allen’s research shows that the stability of Qatar’s economy encouraged foreign investments to grow from US$3.63 billion in 2008 to $20.75bn last year.

Get ready to work in finance industry of Qatar.

Abu Dhabi : A Soon-To-Be Industrial Hub

Abu Dhabi has always been offering vast employment opportunities to job seekers across various industries. The capital of UAE, Abu Dhabi is the epicenter of political, cultural and commercial activities of the nation. It is one of the best Gulf cities for expatriates to work in as it offers excellent lifestyle and huge number of jobs that keep growing. According to a recent report, the industrial sector of Abu Dhabi has become a major contributor to the emirate’s economy.

The industries in Abu Dhabi are working on making it a regional industrial hub and this seems to be happening soon. The industrial sector of the city has added more than $12 billion (Dh44bn) to the emirate’s GDP and there are several projects planned to probably double the figure. It was announced at the first session of Abu Dhabi Economic Forum by Mohammad Al Qamzi, CEO of the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones that a five-year strategy to support the industrial sector of the capital has been drawn. Al Qamzi facilitates investment in the city while completing licensing procedures for industrial institutions. He added that the new trends see licensing of industries related to building materials in addition to providing infrastructural support. This would help meet the needs and demands of local markets for the next seven years as well as of the investors for better functioning of the industrial climate.

These massive developments apparently emphasize the growing market of Abu Dhabi all the more. Eventually, it is expected to expand in the near future, creating a wider job base for the expatriates. Incidentally, jobs in Abu Dhabi are all set to increase in number with the seemingly obvious expansion of the industrial sector in the capital. Wish you all the luck to land with one of those most sought after Abu Dhabi jobs !

Gulf Job Market on a Recovery Spree !

Working in Gulf is an absolutely ‘dream come true’ as you get prodigal amounts of money against the same kind of job in your own country.

The recent global downturn had slowed down economies of almost all the countries located on the world map. And, cities in Gulf were affected too. Some people had to leave their jobs and go back to their native cities in the wake of lay offs. But the resilient economy of Gulf is now generating plenty of jobs for all and attracting expatriates again. Companies in Gulf are looking forward to compensate for the jobs and the workforce lost due to recession.

Current news reports have confirmed that numbers of jobs in Gulf and in Middle East are increasing. According to the survey undertaken by an online recruitment portal in Middle East, the average pay rises have exceeded the increase in cost of living for the first time. As cited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration that covered Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates for the period 2009-2010, rent rates in many cities have fallen by over 30%. An improvement in quality lifestyle and saving potential has been observed in Gulf countries, especially in Dubai and Doha. Moreover, moves have been made for greater legal rights and protection of employees by easing the labor laws.

Oman is offering the highest average pay rise around 8.5% closely followed by Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain at around 7%. The biggest average rise among sectors was recorded in the audit sector as demand for audit services have risen after the collapse of major global institutions.

I believe that with positive reviews on Gulf job market coming in already, a clear indication of restoration of soaring salaries and an extravagant lifestyle is made!

Dubai’s Economy is Recovering - Generating a Lakh Jobs

Dubai is the hottest career destination for expatriates from around the world. And, is all set to become hotter with increasing career opportunities available in the region. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are all time favorites and are expected to record a significant growth in GDP.

There have been large-scale real estate developments going on in Gulf countries like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, UAE, etc. Though these property developments have been delayed due to the global meltdown, they are coming back on track with the revival of the economy. The construction of more than 10 million sq. ft. of office space is expected to complete by 2011 which would then generate a plethora of employment opportunities in Middle East. According to the study conducted by a property consultant in Middle East, Tasweek Real Estate Marketing & Development, Dubai’s economy must generate over a lakh new office jobs to  absorb the supply delivered in 2009. This rate of job creation across different sectors demands an increase in number of professionals and thus, implies a rise in country’s population. Expatriates looking for jobs in Dubai can smile on the great news.

The office-consuming share of total employment and the rate of expatriate economic activity are set to grow manifold. The cross emigration between Gulf cities, especially Dubai and Abu Dhabi is also increasing off late, resulting in a price stabilizing effect in Dubai and reduced rent prices in Abu Dhabi. The improvement in real estate of Dubai post the economic crisis continues particularly in the areas offering easy access to retail, leisure, education and entertainment.

The key drivers for raising housing, commercial and retail prices in future would be location; infrastructure; quality of construction; community facilities and availability of financing solutions. This would also include affordability, return on investment and trust-worthy exchange partners from the other end.

Tips for working in gulf

Job safety or job security is the thing which we aim for leading a happy and contended life. Problems at the work place affect our personal life and leads to tensions and more tensions. It is a proven fact that an unsolved problem, gives birth to a number of consecutive problems, which comes as a result of its repercussions. Therefore, for a cheerful and joyous personal life, one must possess a blessed life at work, and for that you need to keep your bosses satisfied and impressed with your work. And, for the same, you need to be sure whatever you are doing is according to your wish and matching the standards of your organisation.

Employees are generally confused and stressed if the job is in some foreign land, specially, in gulf regions, where, the traditions, cultures, ways are totally different and one need to adopt the same, to let the life flow in a positive direction. Following are some of the tips mentioned, which would help you to work in gulf countries:

Before landing in the gulf countries, you must have the job in your hand. This helps in easing out the process for applying visa, and even you don’t have to go through tensions of finding a suitable job

The job chosen should match your interest, that ways it will help you to succeed and put best of your efforts, hence would bring productive and appreciative results

Dubai - cool environment at a hot place

The countries in the gulf region are famous for their rigid cultures and rituals, the religious practices there, are more like rules for them, especially women are always supposed to be in burkas, always obeying the orders given by their husbands. In such a situation, just imagine, u get to see woman in all contemporary and fascinated attire, independent, working and getting their due respect, which they deserve. Yes, I am not daydreaming, I am talking about the gold country of the gulf region i.e. Dubai.

I was actually shocked when one of my friends told me that Dubai is such a cool city, instilled with all the modern facilities and developments, one can witness the hottest fashion shows there, women do not have to hide themselves under parda, in fact there are many women running their own business empires in the city successfully. And the security and safety rules for women are very strict; no one can even dare to misbehave with them, due to the brutal punishments given to the criminals there.

Dubai is a city of infotainment, one can maintain a healthy balance between his professional and personal life, as the city offers great opportunities to satisfy the fun factor of your life. The different places which you can visit are Al Fahidi fort, Wonderland Family Fun Amusement Park, Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, Dubai Zoo, Dubai Creek, etc. Also, Dubai is a famous spot shopaholic people as the shopping festival which is held every year in the city, gives another chance for the citizens and people from foreign lands to enjoy. Keeping all these factors in mind and the job prospects its offers in fields like Oil & Gas, Construction, Petroleum, Tourism, Technology, Banking, Education industries, I would surely like to take a chance and try my luck for job in Dubai.
