The Job Market of UAE Seeks More Workforce

The wealth and revenues of UAE is very much dependent on oil and gas industry. There have been lots of oil and gas jobs that have been adding to the revenues of the country. But in recent decades, the country has sought to diversify its economy.

Thus the banking, manufacturing, construction, IT, real estate, and many other sectors have also grown considerably, and created a lot of jobs, apart from oil and gas jobs in cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, etc.

Also, thanks to its ports, airports, reliable banking system and its highly efficient means of communication, the country is now one of the most important business centers in the Gulf, and Dubai is the economic capital. Tourism is also booming in the city which has also directly led to creation of tourism and hospitality jobs in Dubai. The companies have been hiring more and more people every year. Dubai is also the center of re-export of the region.

Taxes do not exist in Dubai, as in other emirates. So the candidates working in Dubai can enjoy 100% of their salaries.

However, the rapid economic growth in the UAE has led to a lack of efficient staff. Thus, the companies have been starting hiring the foreign labor, which accounts for 90% of the current workforce. Many workers come from India or Pakistan, but a good number of nationals of the United States, Europe and Arab countries are also into these jobs.

The high-ranking positions in government services are generally reserved for citizens of the UAE. The government is working to train Emiratis for the jobs that are permanent positions and meet the needs of the country.

Despite the reluctance of some Emiratis, female graduates have a significant role in the labor market, accounting for 40% of those working in public office as well as oil career.
